The jungle of the Osa is extraordinary. Trekking through the primary rainforest is magnificent. The trees are unimaginable large, the vines as impressive, the wildlife extraordinary. On the Osa we have many exotic mammals, including sloths, anteaters, big cats, coatamundis, peccaries, and four species of monkey: the Cara Blanca (white face monkey), the Colorado (spider monkey), the comical Squirrel monkey, and the boisterous black Howler monkey called the Congo. Our birdlife is legendary, our poison dart frogs lively, not to mention bouncy.
There are a variety of ways to see the jungle, and the wildlife within it. Here, there is something on the Osa for everyone with a love of nature, a sense of adventure, a curious streak. You can trek through the jungle with an American biologist, an Irish crocodile expert, a botanist, or a local Costa Rican campesino: and then you can come back to Iguana, have a splendid meal, take a swim, check out the stars, and contemplate the beauty of the Osa.
